At Redwood we are dedicated to producing delicious healthy alternatives to meat, fish and dairy products. In so doing we have a duty of care to people, animals and the environment. We recognise that in our day to day activities we inevitably have an impact on the environment and wish to minimise the effect of our activity whenever and wherever possible
Redwood Wholefoods is committed to continuous improvements in environmental performance and the prevention of pollution. In so doing we will regard environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice as setting the minimum standards of environmental performance. We will implement our policies through a coordinated environmental management system
At Redwood, we care passionately about people, the environment and animals. And we know you do too. That’s why we only use palm oil from carefully selected approved suppliers in Malaysia who operate on a sustainable basis. We do not, and never will, buy palm oil based products from suppliers who do not meet our criteria for environmentally responsible oil palm cultivation
“We will use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources to meet our needs and will invest in the improved energy efficiency of the products we sell”.
“We will consider the environmental impact of our products at all stages, from design to final customer use and disposal”.
“We will seek to address the impact on the environment through the adaptation of a sustainable procurement policy and aim to source ingredients and materials locally whenever possible. We will conserve resources though efficient use and careful planning and working with our suppliers”.
“We recognise the need to use recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible and subscribe to a policy of sustainable waste management”.
“We will seek to minimise waste and whenever possible recycle materials. We will dispose of waste through safe and responsible methods”.
“Through coordinating route planning and delivery schedules we will seek to reduce both fuel consumption and exhaust emissions”.
“We will conduct an annual self-evaluation of our performance in implementing these principals and in complying with all applicable laws and regulations”.
The ethical, scientific and safety bases for the development of gene manipulation in the company's opinion is yet to be proven. Accordingly, Redwood - as a company making foods in the healthy eating arena - has approached the whole issue from the standpoint of not using GMOs in its products. This has led to reformulation where necessary and the need to re-source certain soya products with a certifiable provenance. The company has now completed this task. It is, and will remain, the company policy not to supply products with GMOs.
